The KyADAPT program is designed to provide residents with the following:
  • A safe environment.  Residents will benefit from the independence of living away from family members and the security of living in a 24-hour supervised environment.
  • Well-trained staff to assist residents in life's daily routine.  Residents will learn independent living skills such as personal care, household safety, cooking, medication administration and money management.
  • Counseling to encourage self-improvement.  Residents will be given personal training and counseling that matches individual abilities and needs.
  • Appropriate rights and responsibilities to promote self-esteem and independence.  Each resident will be assisted and encouraged to maximize individual potential.
  • Job training and placement assistance.  Staff members will assist residents in working through government and private agencies to attain work in the community and/or KyADAPT residence.
  • Direct communication with staff, peers, employers, family members and the world at large.  This communication is facilitated by American Sign Language (ASL), computers, assistive technology, use of public transportation and a variety of other techniques.
